FAQ
Quick answers about how the app works.
How does Room -> Container -> Item work?
A Room is a place, a Container stores grouped things, and an Item is one specific thing.
- Example: Room = Garage, Container = Blue Box, Item = Bike Pump.
- Containers can be inside rooms or inside other containers.
Can I put containers inside other containers?
Yes. Open a container and use Add nested Container.
- Use this for box-in-box storage.
- The hierarchy stays visible, so you can understand where each thing is.
Why does each container have a QR code?
QR opens the container page instantly so you can see or update its contents fast.
- Scan the QR code to jump directly to that container.
- This is useful when labels look similar.
How can I add many items quickly?
Use the multi-line item form or AR scan from the add-item flow.
- You can add many names at once.
- AR scan can detect item names and categories when enabled.
Which AI Scan type should I choose?
Use Auto-detect for mixed items, Books for title and author, and Electronics for detailed tech naming.
- Auto-detect applies book/electronics rules automatically when those objects are recognized.
- Choose a specific type when you want more precise results for that type.
What AR possibilities are available?
AR can identify items, place them into the current container flow, and suggest container name, type, and color.
- Review suggestions before saving.
- Use clear camera view for better recognition.
What is the fastest way to find an item?
Use top search first, then scan container QR if you are standing near boxes.
- Search helps when you know the item name or category.
- QR scan helps when you are physically in storage areas.
What is Pack Container Flow?
It is an all-in-one flow that combines AR container recognition and AR item scan for easier placing.
- The flow tries to guess the best category for scanned items.
- You can adjust names and categories before final save.
What happens when I remove items or containers?
Items can be archived and restored later. Removing a container archives its items.
- Archived items are available in the Archived Items section.
- Restore sends an item back to a container.
Can multiple people use one inventory?
Yes. Household members share one inventory structure.
- Everyone can find the same rooms, containers, and items.
- Use Settings and household management to keep data organized.
How do I configure household settings?
Open Household and My Settings to set language, theme, and AI options.
- Use a clear household name so everyone recognizes it.
- Set preferred locale so all members see the right language.
What is the difference between managed AI scans and using my own API key?
Managed AI scans use a household-provided key with a scan quota. Your own API key uses your OpenAI account and is not limited by household managed quota.
- When managed mode is active, Household shows how many scans are left.
- If you enter your own API key, the app switches to your key for all scans.
- After switching to your key, managed quota no longer applies to your household.
